I went to New Paltz with Jess, Michelle, her boyfriend, and his friend today. That's the town where I went to college for my Japanese classes. It made me miss old times. We had lunch at Neko Sushi and I got awesome teriyaki salmon ♥ I gave any food that wasn't fish or rice to Jess XD It must be handy to eat out with someone who won't eat anything ^^;; Oh! I got to try fried icecream!! I've wanted to forever, but never found a place to have it. It was just ok, but I'm glad I got to try it. Then we just browsed the shops. I wore my Hungary hairclip all day. I really like it.

The other day while cleaning my closet, I found my diary from mid-2004. this was the only year I kept a diary. It was the year before I got an LJ. I was 15 back then. Reading it, it could've been written today ^^;; I never change. Well except I had friends other than Jess and Michelle back then. The point is, in it is a list of BL pairings I like when I first started to like BL XD The list goes: Kaworu/Shinji (Eva), Rikuo/Kazahaya (Gouhou Drug), Touya/Yukito (CCS), Yuri/Wolfram (Kyou Kara Maou), Kuro/Tama (Paradistar), and Tsuzuki/Hisoka (Yami no Matsuei) XD Oh goodness. This was back when Legal Drug and Yami were only scanlations. Paradistar never got licensed. I still have it on my comp. I re-read it last year and...it's awful XD BL was so new to me back then that I actually liked that ridiculous thing! lol I'd still like to know how it ends though...

I had THE yaoi talk with Jess today XD In the middle of the mall. While drinking Friendly's Sherbet Slammers (oh the guy at the register was cute! ♥). It was...slightly uncomfortable saying things like 'Well, boys with other boys...' If it's two boys...' 'blahblah twincest...' and stuff like that with an old guy sitting right behind us ^^;

I don't know when Jess will post her anti-yaoi stand on the matter, but I have free time now and I'm going to post my pro-yaoi argument.

A little back story: I was first introduced to yaoi through the Digimon fandom...AND DESPISED IT. Because Tai was obviously in love with Sora. Pairing him with anyone else was gross and wrong (hey, I was 12. It was my first OTP. Ah, the old days). So, I assumed that any and all yaoi was just girls pairing random straight guys together, and I am against that. Thinking back, it never was because it was two guys. It was only the fact that they were obviously straight that bugged me. Go about a year later. I am now watching 'Card Captors' on tv and am compelled to visit Media Play (oh the memories!) and pick up the Card Captor Sakura manga, because I had read online that it was the uncut original version. A few volumes in, Touya and Yukito are getting fairly close and...I was totally cool with that. By the end of the series, I liked that pairing. Same with Lantis/Eagle in Rayearth...except I always liked Lantis/Eagle/Hikaru XD (1st OT3! lol). Ah, Clamp, spoiling the minds of our youth. From then on, I liked BL pairings that were cannon, but was mostly quiet about it. Then I got the Evangelion DVDs from the library when I was 14? 15? I think 15. I already knew about Kaworu from the internet and anticipated seeing him, but watching him for myself, his interaction with Shinji, it was beautiful. I loved it. That was the 1st BL pair I was ever really passionate about. I swear, i have a diary I kept for about a month when I was 15 somewhere that I listed some BL pairs I liked in XD How I wish I could find it! I know Yuuri/Wolfram from KKM were in there too. Heh. In 2005, I got an LJ and in writing here, I learned to be truer to myself and not hide things I feel, so I started to talk about BL more and more and here I am ^_^ I still like to think that I only like pairings that are A)cannon or B)purposely hinted at by the creator(s).

So. Pro-yaoi:
I am a very easily stressed person. Reading/watching romance stresses me. Why? Because, even though I don't want to, I can't help but try to identify with the girl. And I usually can't. I get frustrated with the girl thinking 'I wouldn't do that!' OR I get angry with the guy for how he treats the girl 'I would never stand for that!'. But, take the girl out of the mix. Replace her with a slightly girly, shorter boy (the classic uke). Suddenly, there is no pressure on my part. I am not a guy and I can't guess what I'd do if I was one. I no longer can participate in the story. I have become a bystander. Now I can just lean back, relax, and watch the show stress free. I put up with things from BL couples that I would HATE in a boy/girl pair. Gravitation, for example, would be unwatchable if Shuichi was a girl.
There are pairings, though, that I like purely for the characters' interaction. For example, I would like Kawo/Shin just as much if Shinji was a girl. It's Kaworu's whole 'I was born to meet you.' thing that is so enjoyable to me. I'd be cheating myself of a very enjoyable relationship if I didn't like KawoShin just because they are both boys. I can find no reason, other than certain upbringings of the reader, to not like yaoj pairs that have good, loving relationships (not sure if KawoShin is a good example of that...heh. Try Touya/Yukito for that one).
On the completely shallow end of things, seeing two cute guys is better than only seeing one, right?
Back to what I was originally saying, because I remembered how I told this to Jess, most boys we slash are ones who are unattainable for us: anime characters or even rockstars or actors. Jess said 'I'd rather have a guy look at me than another guy.' But these boys will never look at you. So, instead of being jealous of them with another girl, just like you yet so far away, for some it is better to see the boy with another. Because as a girl, the viewer can not compete with a boy, they are not the same. Now, the viewer can enjoy the happiness off the unattainable boy, without jealousy.
Now, I cannot speak about real life couples, for I've never met any. I am only talking about characters here. The love between two boys also means that they care for eachother so deeply, that they'll go against society and do what ever they please. I like that. You know me and being different. ^^ I also like that they can't have children. I dislike children and I think the world needs alot fewer humans. I almost (almost!) wish I wasn't straight, because it would be wonderful to be 'close' without the worry of having a child. I'm always disgusted when a girl in a story has a child, because I can't identify.

So. That's me and that's how I feel. I also want to be clear that I support these types of couples in real life as well. If they want to be different, more power to them ^^ Again, I haven't met any, but it's THEIR life and it's not for anyone to tell them other wise. They aren't hurting anyone. You wanna be disgusted with a person? Hate a killer or someone who litters or pollutes. It's a waste of your time to hate someone who isn't hurting anyone. (< not directing that at anyone I know!)

Anime Network is playing Gravitation again. I think I'll watch it for the 3rd time :p It's just so classic.

I got the 1st 2 DVDs of Fafner from the library, to re-watch. Gah, I love Soushi/Kazuki SO MUCH right now. It's a boring mech show, but Soushi carries the whole thing for me ♥

Speaking of mecha, I think I'm dropping watching Geass. There are so many better things I could watch online instead. None of the characters or pairings really grab me :/ Watching it makes me sleepy and I usually wind up flipping through my doujinshi instead while watching it.

If you would allow me to go back to being 12 years old again, This Pokemon site: http://www.trsrockin.com managed to fascinate me for hours yesterday. (the site has lots of other stuff too, though!). when i was young playing Red, the Missingno glitch creeped me out. I didn't understand how glitches are created, so I thought it was very spooky that something the developers didn't intend to be in the game found it's way in there. I think I honestly thought it was like a .hack sort of thing where the game takes off on it's own and creates new features! lol. So, I was fascinated to learn how the glitch came about. BTW, I was quite found of my Missingno and had him as a big part of my team ^^
Oh, is it really true that the save battery goes bad in GB games after a number of years? D: I've been playing Game Boy since Pocket (the black and white one!), so I fear for my game collection now T_T

What is it with authors in BL anime? I mean, it's such a common theme for someone to be an author in a BL. Gravitation, Junjou, and I tried Kirepapa out of curiousity (it was so insanely cheesy, I thought the whole show was a joke at first, btw)...another author! lol. You know how there's The Laws of Anime http://www.abcb.com/laws/ ? Someone needs to make a laws of BL (unless there already is one). Rule 1: Someone's an author.
Speaking of Laws of Anime, that list is very funny if you're a fan from the 90s (or just like alot of 90s anime), but someone really needs to make a more modern list. I mean, if an anime laws list doesn't state 'Every anime must have at least one hotsprings trip', it's just not a through list.

Yosh! Vladimir Todd 2 getto! I was so mad because i thought they didn't have it, because it wasn't next to book 1. But it turns out it was misshelved in the other YA section -_- Got the only copy too.
The big question is... Do I put down Nightrunner 2 to read it? D: (probably will. The Nightrunner books are like over 500 pages. It's hard for me to read the whole thing continuously ^^;)
Oh yeah, for people that are into BL: The Nightrunner series is a series of American BL novels about spies in a fantasy world ^^ Good stuff. The author has an LJ: otterdance

Now that I have Vlad 2, I have to wait until August for the next novel i want to buy (Keys to the Kingdom 6). For someone who reads alot, I actually enjoy so few books :/ Oh well. Leaves more manga money (I'll never get a BJD until I get a job, it seems. I just can't not buy manga)
Edit: Okay. Well, Artemis Fowl 6 comes out in July...but I just don't like it anymore T_T I only liked 1-3. (Like Darren Shan, I only like the first bunch and HP I only like 1-5... that's why I prefer single novels to series :/)

The bear's name is Suzuki-san XD So cute. The one guy Usagi-san is like 28 and has a room full of toys and stuffed animals.
It's a really cute BL anime. It's really funny too. You know it takes alot to make me laugh (seriously, I'm so serious that I've had to train myself to laugh when I hear a joke. I do it automatically when I can tell something's supposed to be funny now. It's kinda scary o_o), but during the 2 eps that are out, I laughed at least 3 times! XD Good stuff.
I could tell right away that Misaki-kun is Sakurai! He's using his Yuuri voice X3 I love how he has the 2 voice modes: The manly man voice for Alzeid (HaYuugi), Shito (Zombie Loan) and Haruka (Tactics), and the boyish voice for Yuuri (KKM) and Misaki. Talented!! I'm glad that that plagiarism issue seems to be cleared up and he's been working again ^^ He worried everyone!!
Studio Deen. I knew it was them when I watched the ed. because it had their trademark ep. recap in it. Oh, Deen, you're so lazy, but I love you all the same. Seriously, I've noticed for a while that most of the anime I enjoy are Deen ^^;;;
What I didn't like was that their obviously rushing things. The 1st ep was such a whirlwind, I kept getting confusing.
Well, I hope Junjou can be as popular in America as Gravitation. I think Gravi fans would really like it.

Even though I've only seen one episode, Kaiba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaiba) has restored my faith in anime a bit. It's just so wonderfully bizzare! This is what I got into anime for. You gotta love Japan. When they do weird, they go all out. On second thought, the plot is really generic, but it's the way they pull the whole thing off that's so cool.

We're watching Stage Beauty in Theatre. It's very R rated, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying it. It's about the transtion time in English theatre when women began to play female parts (it's like a 100 years after Morality Play, maybe?). It's mainly about a man who was famous for playing women dealing with being out of the job. There's cross-dressing (duh) and yaoi XD When the guys kissed one girl in class yelled 'Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww!' (there was a general outbreak of all kinds of sounds, but I heard her loudest ^^;). lol I nearly clapped, but settled for a somewhat evil grin instead XD The romance was not to last, though so don't watch the movie for that ^^;; Um yeah. It's an interesting movie.

Now that Philosophy paper is over, I now have to work on myaking a diarama for Theatre about one of the plays we read. He said it doesn't have to be an art project, but I want to draw the whole thing anyway >< Due May 5. I shall be busy.
