Like fab
Today, was a shopping day with Jess. I only have $10 in the bank now ahaha...orz But it was worth it because:
I got fabric for my Gakuen!Belarus cosplay )

It started pouring while we were in Joann Fabrics, so we had to use our fabric as cloaks XD Fun times. My shoes got all squishy, though :/

Oh. Book geekery: So I'm reading the 3rd Nightrunner book right now. It's still a great series and all, but I wish there was a glossary in the back like series such as Acorna have. I cannot remember what a single one of the Aurenfaie words means and I keep getting all the new characters from Aurenen confused ;_; On the other hand Alec and Seregil are still an adorable couple :3
For people who aren't familiar, Nightrunner is a novel series written by Lynn Flewelling (who mailed me a signed bookmark :Db She has lj: [info]otterdance). It's a fantasy series, but the two main characters are in a BL pairing :D It's got a good story AND dudes in love. Win.

Ah I'm so boring.

Heather Brewer posted the summary of her new book series on her blog:

What's worse than being blackmailed to attend a hidden school where you're treated like a second-class citizen? How about nearly getting eaten by a monster when you arrive? Or learning that your soulmate was killed in a centuries-old secret war? And then there's the evil king who's determined to rule the world unless you can stop him...

Meet Kaya, a young woman with the power to heal and the determination to fight. But struggle as she will, she remains tied to three very different men: a hero who has forsaken glory, a tyrannical ruler who wants to use Kaya, and a warrior who's stolen her heart. Kaya learns the hard way that some ties can't be broken...and blood is the strongest bond of all.

BLOODBOUND by Heather Brewer

Well, i'm disappointed :/ As you know, I don't like female main characters in books. I can never understand or identify with them and they 90% of the time fall in love with a guy I hate (it's not like I hate all romance; it just needs to be handled in a certain way). I love Heather Brewer's Vladimir Tod series, but I think I'll be skipping this next one. Oh and I snorted out loud (would that be an SOL instead of LOL?) at the 'hidden school' thing. Oh please.

I'll try to reply to the comments for the meme some time today ^^

Some one on that music meme from a week or two ago uploaded 3 Killers CDs for me. ♥ ...Except, I must have Smile Like You Mean It memorized because the ENTIRE song played perfectly in a dream I had last night. ...My dreams come with their own sound tracks now orz Anyway, I'm so sorry I didn't see them when they played in NYC last month T_T

People in my Asian History class are awesome. Just so you know.

I hate the sunlight so much. When I get home from school, all I want to do is close all the curtains in the living room and read lj on my laptop. I wish it could be cloudy more often... (I know it sounds like an odd attitude, but actually, my eyes are pretty sensitive and so I get cranky when they hurt...)

Re-reading Coraline right now to prepare for the movie... "The lime-aide tasted bright green and vaguely chemical. Coraline liked it enormously." LOL That's totally me and weird kool-aide type drinks! XD

Okay. A little book talk.
Half way through Suck it Up. I wonder if it's a series because I don't see how this can end in one book. It seems to take alot from Darren Shan, with the two rival vampires groups who have different beliefs being at war. I feel so ripped off with vampire stories that have no real blood drinking! It's like, what's the point? That's one reason I like Vladimir Tod, even though he doesn't bite people, he still drinks real blood. Big points off for Morning being an orphan. But his name is cool, so he gets some points back. I hate the romance so far. Why can't there be a good vampire book without romance? Well, Thirsty was had no romance (that i recall) but it was depressing as heck. Over all, it's an okay book, but I'm a little sorry I bought it.

Today, I used my B&N gift card to buy Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo. I mainly just liked the cover. Oh me and my creepy love of 14 year old boys. Leven is an orphan and is raised by not-so-nice relatives, which is of course points off. I thought it was a safe buy because there was no map in the front...it was in the back!! They tricked me! lol Oh well. We'll see. The plot summary reminds me of my Mahou Shounen plot about the dream world. I'm hoping the whole thing will be kind of like Keys to the Kingdom in feel. At least so far I like the author's voice. However, I feel he's trying to go a little too Lemony Snicket. You can really see it it in his bio.
Seriously, though, I'm really starting to hate orphans. I can't wait to be done with school so I can write a book in which KIDS HAVE PARENTS.

It think it's really funny that Japanese Hetalia fans want to keep the series underground so it won't offend people who don't get it (because, honestly, I can see alot of mad moms 'Not only is it making fun of people of all countries- the countries are all men of questionable orientation! SWEDEN AND FINLAND ARE MARRIED AND ADOPTED A KID ASJASJFJGKL') and they even supposedly requested that the author give them all human names that are safe to use, but us Americans are all like 'YEAH I LIKE RUSSIA/LITHUANIA!' without trying to keep it a secret that all the characters are countries XD I really want to draw a little comic about US and Japan arguing over using their humans names vs. county names XD That and a comic about Russia playing Katamari 'NOW THE ENTIRE WORLD IS ONE WITH ME! :D'

I need to go back and add tags to my entries again.

I took everything out of my closet and still can't find my Rena sash ): Where do these things go!? But! I did find a can of silly string :D I see a good party in the future.

I just finished a book called Pay the Piper. I've never disliked a Jane Yolen book that I can recall, and this was no exception. Alabas/Gringas. I loved that Alabas's love for his prince broke the curse XD And Alabas has been following Gringas around for 800 years. That's along time to still love someone :3 Also, Alabas didn't commit a crime, so he didn't *have* to be exiled, he choose to stay with him. They made me fangirlishly happy ^_^ I'm not sure I understood how they stayed in Faerie if they became mortal, though. I mean, wouldn't they be washed out like the 'grey children'?
It was a good book ^_^ Nice and short as well. I get so sick of those 500 pages jobs.

Um, did we even read the same novel?
Ii-chan is not spineless. The guy can look at headless corpses and keep his eyes open when facing his own death. Desensitized, but not spineless. I really like him. Also, I found the entire book a huge page turner. The beginning did not have to be slogged through at all. It was great to get the chara introductions out of the way at the beginning, so we could have all the meat of the story at once later. Finish your veggies, then have dessert, right?
Also, the point of the book wasn't really the mystery, so it was cool that it was a completely bizarre, nonsensical solution. NishiOihsiN did the same thing in his Death Note novel. It's about the journey not the destination with his books, I think. The point of his books is to be very complicated, very weird, and have great characters. It's how I enjoy MT Anderson's works as well; it's all about the writing, the way he puts the phrases, that makes it a good read. It just pokes a certain area of my brain that I can't explain, but it's a good feeling.

Yeah. i need to go to bed now.

I wonder why Del Rey left the subtitle Kubikiri Cycle in Japanese, instead of translating it as The Neck Cutting Cycle. Too graphic? lol

Oh btw, besides Kunigisa and Ii-chan, I hated the other characters. except maybe Shinya. Heh.

Just posting to say I'm alive and all that good stuff.

I don't ever want to take a course on Saturdays again orz

I was going to watch the new Indiana Jones movie at my college tonight with Jess, but they canceled it ): Boo. So we're having anime night at my house instead. No biggie, actually, since I already saw that movie, I guess.

I finished Zaregoto 1 a few days ago. It was a really spectacular read! Highly recommended. I really loved Kunagisa having that compulsion problem that made her not be able to up and down stairs. I love it when characters aren't perfect and have problems. I can also identify with her, because I am unable to eat alot of foods and do other certain things because of a problem like her's, so I like reading a character I can understand ^^ I thought Ii-chan would be a push-over main boy, somehow, but he was really awesome too!
I can not wait at all for the next book! I'm praying that it explains what happened to Ii-chan in the past, because of the way he talked of being desensitized to death and stuff. I need to know! ><
So, go read this book. Even if you don't like murder mysteries (I usually don't), it's justy so well written with great main characters. Whee!

Zombie Loan 13- while I was very happy to have two extra episodes after the 'ending', the original end at ep 11 was alot better/more final. I mean, it was open ended, but at least it finished the arc it was in. This end was a total cliff hanger! It was one of those anime like Spiral, where you need to buy the manga if you ever want to know the big secrets. Bleh. Ofcourse, I'm buying the manga anyway, but they should've at least wrapped up that whole A-Loan thing or not introduced it at all. Oh, I was feeling green haired kid/Michiru for a bit there :3 ...No, no! I like Shito/Michiru! >< Also, Werewolf boy/Chairwoman=OTP

Currently reading the Zaregoto novel. Unlike all other Japanese novels I've read, it doesn't feel like a 'light' novel at all (so far, I've only read .hack//AI Buster 1&2, Kino's Journey, Clamp Paranormal Investigators, Death Note (by the same author as Zaregoto, actually), and Hot Gimmick S. They all felt rather...flimsy in the writing). To me, it reads like a real, full-blown novel. Interestingly enough, I'm not in it for the story or characters. Those are actually pretty bland. No, I actually like the writing, which is rare for me. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it just feels right to read. Like, it clicks in my brain. I think the only other author who really does that for me is MT Anderson.

I wish Monochrome Factor subs weren't so insanely slow T_T I think since I've been able to watch anime online, the only series I've followed that were subbed fast were Junjou and Antique Bakery... i guess everything I else I pick is not quite mainstream/popular ^^;;;
Edit: Ah, I'm so stupid, I've should've checked before complaining. Ep 13 came out yesterday! No one said anything on the comm, though :/

Gurren Lagann was finally back on Sci-Fi last night. I really expected to hate Nia, since she looked so moe-moe, but I found my self enjoying her character. Her voice fits super well. Like, when I saw her picture online, that's exactly how I imagined her to sound, ya know? That show does have good characters ^^ So far, I like Simon, Rossiu and Viral all equally. Usually, I'll only have one fav and ignore all other characters ^^;;;

It's sad when you meet someone in a dream. By waking up, it's like you've killed them. Their existence has ceased. I miss him...

Finished Artemis 6. Disappointing. Despite the awesome concept, it was one big long chase scene. Not my thing. Future volumes will just come from the library. And i can never forgive Colfer for forgetting about Juliet. Colfer seems to hate girls or something. First Juliet, then Minerva, he just like swept them under a rug :/ (not that I mind about Minnie, though XP)

On page 40-something of Keys to the Kingdom 6. This volume is so short! After over a year and a half, I was expecting a bit more then around 250 pages, large print >:
All books need to become Keys right now. I'm not sure when the series transitioned from 'Pretty good' to 'AWESOME THE BEST EVER KYAAA I LOVE IT', but it did. It has black-winged bishonen in top hats. Seriously. That will make me read a book right there. It's like Garth Nix sat down and asked me 'What do you like to see in a book?'. The series is just perfect. Anyway, I'm so sad the next will be the last one T_T I wish Nix wrote other good books, but I hated Sabriel and the first 7th Tower was just meh. Maybe after Keys, he'll continue writing the same style? Somehow, I doubt it. The series is just so beautifully weird. I haven't found anything else like it. hmm, maybe I should ask for recs on the Keys comm?
I just hope no one dies in these last books T_T AND PLEASE LET THE PIPER BECOME GOOD AND NOT DIE.

Watching Gurren Lagann on Sci-Fi. I really wanted to hate it, but I like it. and when I don't like it, I can just listen to Yuri Lowenthall talk :3 I think I might like Viral, but I need to see more of him. i like his design, at least, and i tend to like 'evil, but not really' rival types.

also watching the Blood Hound drama on the Asian channel. I was wondering how they were going to make a whole series out of a 3 chapter (I think it was 3. I haven't read it in 5 years...I feel so old) manga. The first 2 eps covered the manga, so I guess the rest will be filler? :/ I'll see if the filler's any good or not. If it's only 'case of the week' stuff, I might drop it.

Suteki Tantei always makes me want tea. But it's summer and too hot for tea T_T
The ep. 10 preview killed me:
Sanae: Do you have a girlfriend, Seiran?
Seiran: Mayuki...
Sanae: Eh!? You and Mayuki?! That's a crime!

lol at least the show realizes how shota it is XD Seiran/Mayuki!!

i haven't updated in a few days. Just been feeling lazy. Still can't force myself to draw or do much of anything. I miss my webcomics, but I hate trying to draw them and I forget where I was going with Mahou Shonen at this part :/ I wanted more Minoru/Shinya, but I can't draw it how I want.

Splash Down was awesome! I haven't had fun like that in ages. Not sure what else to say about it ^^;;; Oh, I think my friends are just desensitized to normal sized people since Americans are so fat on average. I'm a normal weight ^^;;;; (they were fussing over how I'm so skinny. I'm not that skinny! I'm not even underweight anymore)

CTcon on Friday. I'm having trouble getting excited, though. I identify with anime fans as much as I do other people. Meaning, not at all. I don't understand, identify with, or get along with most anime fans. They're just a bunch of shrill kids who hit eachother with swords. Even among geeks I don't fit in. Somedays, I hate everyone in the world so much, I don't know how I can stand it. People who never think outside themselves or see the bigger picture are lucky.

Artemis looked like a healthy corpse. Then again, that was how he always looked. (I love you, Arty!)
Half way through Artemis Fowl 6. It totally makes up for the previous few. Not only do we get good old evil genius!Arty back, we get Artyx2 XD Two Arties, you just can't go wrong there.
SO glad Minerva hasn't shown up! But, Arty/Holly? DO NOT WANT. Seriously. Ewww.
Saw Keys to the Kingdom 6 was out! *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* But i'm waiting until have 30% off again, since I'm not ready to read it yet anyway.

Mom got me a new DDR mat today since the left arrow on my old one died. I missed you, DDR!

Parents randomly ordered a new laptop off HSN ^^;;; (impulse buy?) Hopefully, that'll solve the AMV/raws problem for a while and I can just rip on there.

Kaylan quit taking Japanese with me. I won't have as much money at all now :/ (not to mention, I need a mess of books back from her! D:)

Sarah, go back to your room. Play with your toys. Forget about the 404
Labyrinth reference!? XD I ♥ you, Neopets! lol.

Join and keep me company! XD I'm gatomon200.

You think you waited a long time between each Harry Potter?
Try waiting for The Unicorn Chronicles orz
I got #1 when I was 7 or 8. #2 when I finally got internet, so I must've been 12 or 13. Now, #3 comes out. MAYBE I'LL BE READING #4 WHEN I'M 25? LOL It's a little kids series, so I want to pretend I don't care any more but.. I do. I honestly thought Bruce Covile had given up on it. Both times.

Books to buy in the next 2 months:
1. Artemis Fowl 6 (is it 6?)
2. Unicorn Chronicles 3
3. Keys to the Kingdom 6

I hate hard covers orz I miss KttK being soft cover only, until it got big T_T

I got an awesome book from the library called What Would Your Character Do?. It's personality quizzes for your characters so you can know them better XD Seriously fun. I'd love to buy it.

This isn't what I meant to talk about... Oh, I forgot.

1. One book that changed your life.
Harry Potter. For both good and bad, I think it did.

2. One book that you've read more than once.
Into the Land of Unicorns by Bruce Covile. I read slow, so I rarely get to reread books, because I have so many I haven't read still.

3. One book you'd want on a desert island.
Howl's Moving Castle, I think. It's like the perfect book. I'm not sure if I could get tired of it.

4. One book that made you laugh.
The Cockatrice Boys by Joan Aiken. It's rare for me to laugh at something I read, but the shear wackiness of this book achieves anime worthy levels.

5. One book that made you cry.
Harry Potter 7

6. One book that you wish had been written.
A book that would become my favorite! Some thing with: vampires *going through a vampire phase*, a cute young boy hero, fantasy but takes place in the real world, not too much description, no character deaths, dark weird slightly creepy but has a happy ending...um, um...I dunno cause it doesn't exist!

7. One book that you wish had never been written.
Harry Potter 7 Eragon

8. One book you're currently reading.
Monster Blood Tattoo 1

9. One book you've been meaning to read.
Twilight

Bonus question: What book scared you the most?
....
......
None. ^^;;; I don't scare easily.

At Jess's today, I just sort of laid down on the sidewalk in front of her house (then she did too XD). I forgot how nice it is to lay outside on a nice day... (it was cloudy and cool-ish, but not cold. Ah, perfect weather.)

Vladimir Tod 2 spoilers! )

Now for some spoiler-free talk. First off: I wish my mom was like Heather Brewer T_T She sounds like the coolest mom in the entire world on her blog.
Okay, back to the book. It's sickening how much Vlad talks about Meredith! I'm starting to hate her just because he talks about her in a love-sick haze at least once a chapter. The way he describes her so lovingly, it's really sickening. And it sounds like she dresses like a pink nightmare. I swear I think HP was the only book series where I love the main pairing -_- My hate of Meredith is making me like Vlad/Henry just out of spite. That and vampire/slave luv! X3 The part where Vlad was recovering and the medical blood wasn't enough and Henry was like 'Drink my blood!'...Kyaaaaaa! XD (Vlad refused, though ): Come on, Vlad it's not like you hadn't done it before :p)

I can't see why these books aren't more popular. They're very Darren Shan ripoff-ish in places. I really think DS fans, need to try this series. It also has a good 'parents' generation' back story, very HP-ish ^^ Tomas and Otis remind me of James and Sirius in their young days. Back to the DS-ness, Elysia reminds me a whole lot of Vampire Mountain, and the prophesied vampire who will destroy mankind thing is very DS too. Um yeah.

Yosh! Vladimir Todd 2 getto! I was so mad because i thought they didn't have it, because it wasn't next to book 1. But it turns out it was misshelved in the other YA section -_- Got the only copy too.
The big question is... Do I put down Nightrunner 2 to read it? D: (probably will. The Nightrunner books are like over 500 pages. It's hard for me to read the whole thing continuously ^^;)
Oh yeah, for people that are into BL: The Nightrunner series is a series of American BL novels about spies in a fantasy world ^^ Good stuff. The author has an LJ: [info]otterdance

Now that I have Vlad 2, I have to wait until August for the next novel i want to buy (Keys to the Kingdom 6). For someone who reads alot, I actually enjoy so few books :/ Oh well. Leaves more manga money (I'll never get a BJD until I get a job, it seems. I just can't not buy manga)
Edit: Okay. Well, Artemis Fowl 6 comes out in July...but I just don't like it anymore T_T I only liked 1-3. (Like Darren Shan, I only like the first bunch and HP I only like 1-5... that's why I prefer single novels to series :/)

I think I'll wear my Hatsune Miku shirt to Comic Day tomorrow. That should be sufficiently geeky ^_^

Getting seriously annoyed that every time I find a Last Exile doujinshi it's Dio/Luciola XP I am the only one in the whole world who likes Dio/Klaus (or Klaus/Dio...haven't decided which way yet XD) !? Hmph. I always manage to like obscure things. T_T This is why I need to work hard now, so I can be a doujin-ka with reasonably OK art when I get to Japan. Then I can spam Comiket with all the rare pairings from obscure series that I want! *totally dreaming*

Some one's selling a Hunter x Hunter book by Yuana Kazumi D: Kazumi-sensei!!

Nearly done reading The Astonishing Adventures of Fan Boy and Goth Girl (last library book I will allow myself for, like, ever because it's just lame when someone picks a book off my shelf, says 'how was this?' and I'm all like 'dunno. never read it'. That needs to stop NOW). I recommend it to all geeks. The main guy (...does he even have a name...? I think he's like a video game hero, like in P3, where he has no default name XD Weird.) checking the site for his comic book con everyday to make sure his fave artist is still coming a great. It reminds me so much of me checking to make sure Greg Ayres is still coming to Anime Next XD Once he gets to the con, it's done very believably too.
On the copyright page, under the genre listing for libraries it said 'Geeks (computer enthusiasts)' I lol-ed.

Next up:
1. Death Note novel (yay L!)
2. Princess Nevermore
3. Nightrunner 2

Oh yeah, did finish Morality Play. It was a happy enough ending ^^ Gah I wish it was summer break. I had a sudden urge to write a pre-novel Straw/Springer fic x_X
I need to suddenly gain a super power that allows me to make this novel popular in Japan so we can have fanart and doujinshi!

Finally finished the big update on my selling LJ: [info]soras_stuff (BUY SOMETHING YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO)

Um, what else...

Philosophy is SO much better now that we're done with diagramming arguments. In fact, I actually feel smart, because I never have to ask any questions and get what he's talking about (and do well on the quizzes when I'm too lazy to read the textbook >_> I can still make up my own philosophy and twice it's fit with the philosopher's ^^;;;). Now we're into 'how do we know things exist' kind of stuff ^^

English, on the other hand is still ridiculous. No idea why we have to pay for a college course, when you're expected to do ALL your learning at home instead of class -_- The prof. made me so mad today, I won't even go into it. He's such an old idiot. Can't he just retire already!?

I've been discussing it on [info]xsayaotanashix's lj (haha...I had to look up to spell your account name ^^;;;)...but, I'm reading Morality Play for theatre. I love Straw/Springer SO MUCH. It's SO slashy. They sleep under the same blanket and hold hands and, and they're just so, so cute! XD ...I think I might have had something intelligent to say about the book at one point, but a week of essays has killed my brain so all you get is fangirling. But, goodness, I wish there were fanart and fanfics and doujinshi! I really, totally love that paring ♥ Every time they show up I grin and inwardly squee. Er, I'm supposed to write a report on medieval (that word is actually hard to spell) theatre practice based on the book, but I keep getting distracted by adorable medieval shota BL >< (shoot me now...)
I was REALLY (used 'SO' too much already) disappointed that Springer and Straw were barely in the movie T_T None of their cute moments were in it either T_T Ah, The movie's called The Reckoning. No idea why the title's different o_O

PS: Jones blue lemonade soda=awesome.

WHY IS SATURDAY PUSHED BACK TO AUGUST!? SASGHGKASJDGHK

NOT HAPPY.

The *only* novel series I'm curently buying and it comes out less then once a year -_-

At least it looks like we'll find out who the Architect is (if it's not God, I'll be disappointed. I'm sure The House is some bizzare form of Heaven)

Also, I hope The Piper and Arthur can reach some sort of understanding, like 'We both want the same thing, let's work together for now.' ah, I hope The Piper comes over to the good side so he doesn't have to die >< He's so awesome!

Once Vladimir Todd 2 comes out, I'll start buying those. I'll go back and get 1 once it's in paper back since I've already read it. It'll be nice to not just buy new hard cover novels once every year and six months. (darn, I need to find more good series, but I don't think they exist T_T I should try that Amazon forum...)

I want to read this book. Actually, i think I might've linked it before, but i really need to remind myself to read it.
The boy being called only 'Boy' reminds me of 'Boy' in The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents ^^ (good book for rat lovers, btw. It's hard to find stories that show rats in a good light ^^)
Oh wait, it says there is 'a plucky heroine' :/ I hope is isn't too annoying. I generally dislike 'plucky' girls. Can't there ever be a fantasy book with two boys as main characters, instead of a boy and girl?

I hate not having other book fans in my life to let me know of things of interest...

Then again, I suppose that's what lj comms are for. Still, call me old fashioned, but I prefer having reallife friends tell me of things.

I'll find a DWJ comm. tomorrow. I'll join the KttK one too (self reminders)

Jones-sensei is getting so old, I'm afraid she might die soon, so anything she writes is very precious.

The world should make a big deal out of some books that aren't Harry Potter. I know I would preorder any DWJ book and line up to buy on opening day. Same with KttK. I should not have to find out about these thing weeks or months after they come out.

Actually, I think I was confused at the start of my entry. What I think I was really wishing was for these books to be ubiquitous on the internet. I don't want to go looking for DWJ info. I want to trip over it every time I log on the net, like i do with anime news.
I mean, it would be lovely to have friends that read the books I do, but friends are never my main sorce of info for anything :p
Just, it seems that anime info and news is alot easier to find than for books. That's why I can't be as big a book otaku as I'd like. Lack of fanbase. It's hard to get deeply into anything that lacks fanbase. I mean, just look at Recipe for Gertrude and Beyond the Beyond. These manga have 0 fanbase, so there is no news, no fanart, no fiction, nothing.

It's so painful to be a very creative person, with many ideas and not be able to draw. In fact, it's difficult to be talentless, period. The only thing I'm capable of is writing and even then I'm only good enough to just convey my ideas. I can't say that I'm good at at.

It seems people like Garth Nix's Sabrieal. I was expecting another beautiful world, with enjoyable characters. Plus, how can you go wrong with a necromancer as the lead?
I can't see what people see in that book. It was dull and descriptive, with boring characters. Even the talking cat couldn't save it!
I was browsing the KttK comm. and people also enjoyed book 3, Drowned Wednesday. For me, this was the worst book in the entire series. The only clever bit was the ship being linked to an office somewhere and the office worker!pirates. But really, the beautiful dark atmosphere of The House just wasn't there. I couldn't help but picture everything as being sunny...

The reason I hate descriptive books is (because everyone really needs to understand my taste here) that when there is description, there is little dialog. There! It's not action I like, because how is action presented in a book? Description!. No, my friends, dialog is the only way to go for me. Only through conversations can we see how characters act around other people, we can see there personalities. Characters are the single most important thing when I read a book. This is what made HP so great. There is alot a dialog. The characters are even more lovable than real people (which is honestly not saying much :p).
One more reason: when there is lots of description, you can't imagine things for yourself. You are forced to picture everything how the author wants. This also accounts for my dislike of quest fiction. Every time the characters move to a new location, it must be...described.
...and I'm loosing my train of thought. I just woke up and... *lost thought completely*
